An epic journey visiting the world's startup colonies

TO BE an entrepreneur, you have to be slightly mad. Perhaps that is why one of them, Bowei Gai, a Chinese-American, a year ago embarked on an epic quest to visit as many of the world’s startup colonies as possible and write a “World Startup Report”. He managed three dozen, starting in New Delhi and ending in Singapore. He found that the entrepreneurial explosion is spreading rapidly around the globe: although America still has more internet firms than any other country (roughly 60,000), the rest of the world combined now boasts more (about 76,000). And Israel is now the most likely place for people to start a tech firm: the country has an estimated 375 startups per million inhabitants versus nearly 190 in America.
