The mother of one of the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing in May has criticised Donald Trump for sharing "racist material" on social media.

On Wednesday the US President retweeted three unverified videos from the account of Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of the far-right group Britain First.

Trump's actions provoked widespread fury online and condemnation from British politicians including Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson.

Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesperson also criticised Mr Trump's retweets.

In response, Trump lashed out at May over Twitter, urging her to concentrate on the "radical Islamic terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom".

The President's post has also been condemned by Brendan Cox, the widower of murdered politician Jo Cox, whose life was taken in 2016 by Thomas Mair.

Figen Murray has now added her voice to the criticism.

She is the mother of Martyn Hett, a journalist and social media personality who was killed at the Manchester Arena earlier this year after attending an Ariana Grande concert.

22 people died as a result of the attack which was carried out by Salman Abedi.

As someone who has experienced terrorism first-hand, Figen pleaded with Trump to stop his "hate campaign" as "hate breeds hate."

My son Martyn Hett was killed at Manchester arena. So I experienced terror first hand. But spreading racist material is equal to throwing petrol into a burning fire. Anger breeds anger, hate breeds hate! Please just stop all this hate campaign.
